Thirty or Forty Minutes

We live right down the road from a gym and I have joined and quit this gym no less than four times over the years that I’ve lived here. AP has been encouraging me to give it another try and so when they offered me one free month plus no joining fees, I dragged myself and my gym bag back down the road and signed up once again.

I met with the 25 year old personal trainer who was very enthusiastic about my decision to rejoin the gym and he asked me how long my work out sessions will be so that he could give me a fitness routine targeted for my needs. I told him that I only work out for 30 minutes. He said, “Great! I’ll give you a routine that you can do in, say, 40 minutes…”

“Or thirty minutes” I said with a furrowed brow.

Ever try
Ever fail
No matter
Try harder
Fail better

(One of my favourite quotes.)

  1. I joined a gym way back when they had the O.J. Simpson trial. It was televised every day and I walked on the treadmill easily for over thirty minutes watching that trial at the gym. When the trial ended and the gym decided to start turning the televisions to the financial channel my workout suffered.
