What’s the Buzz?

From my friend, Sandy, who lives up in the wilds of Massachusetts, USA…

“Imagine a quiet morning. Alone in your house. Snow staring to fall, when you hear a loud noise coming from your roof. It sounds like a motor trying to start. Then a loud vibrating noice. Then you hear something fall. You exhaust everything you think it might be and panic starts to ebb it’s way in. The only thing close to the area of the sound is the power lines coming into your house. You remind yourself that once, you almost died because you didn’t want to call 911. You pick up the phone and they tell you to leave the house and are on the way. How embarrassed would YOU be when one of the responders walks out holding the toothbrush that managed to turn itself on, fall off the shelf and lodge against the wooden wall, vibrating its little heart out. THANK YOU WEST BROOKFIELD POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR RESPONDING and laughing with me this morning. I’m so sorry I didn’t find it first but am so grateful that you are there when we call.”

And by the way, this story was picked up by two Massachusetts newspapers and oh was Sandy surprised when she drove in a gas station to fill up her car and saw her photo on the front page!

  1. Ahh that is brilliant! You did the right thing Sandy though, even though you would have felt mortified. Much love from this side of the Pond. Xx

  3. Oh I LOVE this. Sorry, Sandy, but in Covid Confusion (and, yeah, there’s been a bit of it…) we need a little lightening. NO! Not lightning. Lightening.
